FEDERAL TAX CREDITS WON’T BE HERE FOR LONG

THE TIME TO GO SOLAR IS NOW. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A 30% FEDERAL TAX CREDIT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE.

The tax credit has the biggest impact on the true cost of your system when you go solar. The federal tax credit is money you get back on your new system. Currently, the government offers a 30% tax incentive to those that go solar, and of which is applied toward the taxes you owe. For example, if you purchase a $10,000 solar system, you’ll get $3,000 in credit the next time you go to file taxes.

This applies not only to the cost of the system, but the installation as well. Installation costs can be quite high if you hire an installer, to the point at which in some cases, installation charges can be even more than the cost of the equipment. Don’t underestimate the big impact that this can have on the size and amount of your tax credit. Be sure to save invoices from installers and keep receipts whenever you make any trips to the store for any extra materials you may need. All of this can be claimed as well when you file your taxes.

Here’s the important thing though, if you buy a system now and go solar, you can qualify for the 30% federal tax credit. However, that credit is being phased out over the next couple of years, and by 2022, will disappear completely and no longer exist.

2018 30%
2019 30%
2020 26%
2021 22%
2022 0% (Commercial scal projects retain a 10% tax credit)

Each year you delay, the true cost of your solar system is increasing a little bit. If you decide to wait until 2022 or later, then tax credit will be gone completely, and you are responsible to cover the bill for an extra 30% of your solar project. Take advantage of all the benefits of solar energy before they disappear, and take the first step towards a brighter future by going solar now!
